This shot was taken on Christmas eve last year in central Stockholm. Usually the streets are completely empty on Christmas eve, as that is the day we celebrate Christmas (In Sweden all holidays are celebrated on the eve, so we can use the actual day for hangover, since we don't have to go to work on e.g. Christmas day). I was hoping for some ghost town shots, but there were people everywhere (not many, but there was at least a few people on every street).
Anyway, this is what I came up with; slushy, wet weather and cold desperate people scouring for last-minute gifts.
What a beautiful shot. I love the depth and the length of the photograph.
And, who can go wrong with black and white?
Great job and interesting fact that all the holidays in Sweden are celebrated on the eve. I never thought of that.
Hmm, I suppose I'll have to admit that it's really a colour shot. The colours didn't look right in the scan, so I desaturated it. The print looks real nice in colour, though.
It certainly is. Some of it is intentional; this kind of weather lacks contrast in real life as well. As I said in an earlier comment, it is originally a colour photo that I desaturated, and that is the other part of it. Photo's turn out very differently on screen than on print, and I haven't quite gotten the hang of how to fix them up properly. Perhaps I'll give it another go some day when the time-fairy has dropped by.
When is enough enough... What difference does it make when popular artist vent vent vent and support a site that tolerates deviant behaviour. HA! no wonder its all in a name.
